Soft Magic #3 - All Parts of Me (Digital edition)
In the third issue of the “Soft Magic” series, I explore all the of parts of my that I disavowed, hid away, felt ashamed of and the work I’m doing to love all parts of me again. There are three essays in this zine: “Something Thrown Out by Heat,” is about my lifelong relationship with eczema; “All Parts of Me” explores how the COVID-19 pandemic triggered waves of grief about only getting to be two parts of me — caregiver and A student — growing up; and “The Red Wheelbarrow” is about how we find ourselves in the objects we care about. Each of these essays includes the role that infernal families systems, polyvagal theory, and somatic therapy have played in my process of healing my trauma.
